Susan J. Harris has resided in North Carolina since 1971 and is currently based out of the Greater Piedmont area. She has had eight years of art education consisting of five years of academic training and three years of private instruction and mentoring by a professional artist. In addition, she has taken independent classes in various mediums and continues her art study as opportunity permits. Over the years Susan has produced art work in numerous mediums and although she especially enjoys working with stained glass and sculpture, her preference is acrylic abstract mixed media.

She begins with color and texture, applying layer upon layer, taking the initial inspiration in an ever-evolving direction. Each piece becomes an exploration of identity, capturing mood, layers of emotions and the subconscious with the purpose of evoking the viewer�s own interpretation. Each painting is a search, a journey, an experiment.

Susan has exhibited in juried shows and various galleries throughout the state and her fine art is in private collections throughout the US and Canada. Her work has been selected and published in international art books and she maintains gallery representation.
